Boat detailing is unique since most marine finishes are gelcoat. Though thicker than paint, the surface will still degrade over time. The outer layers become dry and results in a dull, chalky appearance. Evocative Detailing offers two options that can have your boat shining on the water again.

Gelcoat Enhancement is an option for short-term improvement in appearance. After a wash and surface decontamination, your detailer applies a marine-grade polish. The polishing process will remove some of the degraded outer surface. With gelcoat enhancement, most of the gloss comes from "remoisturizing" the outer layers of the gelcoat. The duration will vary according to the gelcoat type, depth of damage, and gelcoat care history. If you are interested, we recommend setting up an appointment for an estimate. For just the cost of shop supplies, we will meet you and perform a test spot. This allows you to see what the final appearance is and test how long the results will last.

Gelcoat Correction is a more permanent solution. This multi-step process can take days to complete. Supervised by a Certified Detailer, our team mechanically removes degraded gelcoat using the most appropriate sanding technique. Then we use a combination of cutting, polishing, and finishing to produce the best possible appearance. The corrected gelcoat on the boat or yacht will have increased gloss, improved clarity, and minimal defects. At this point, it is highly recommended to apply a long-term professional coating on the gelcoat. This will provide years of protection.
