More than just a wash.
The best car washes remove dirt and debris on the surface.
Detailing starts with hand washing to gently remove surface contaminants. We then remove contaminants embedded in the surfaces. Once thoroughly decontaminated, some cosmetic reconditioning is usually required. Most detailing also includes the application of protective coatings.
Typical Steps of Exterior Detailing
Decontamination
Depending on the defects present and desired outcome, decontamination of embedded contaminants may require chemical and/or mechanical measures. A variety of techniques from clay bar paint cleaning to wet sanding are options based on the vehicle's condition and desired outcome.
Paint Correction
Once the surface is adequately decontaminated, some degree of paint correction will be required. This may involve multiple steps, but at minimum polishing is recommended.
Protection & Glass Cleaning
The final step is to protect the cleaned and corrected surfaces by applying a traditional or synthetic wax, sealant, or professional grade coating. This delays future contamination, which keeps the great appearance longer while making maintenance washes easier. We finish with glass cleaning, but a hydrophobic glass coating may also be applied if desired.
